As an artist I don’t want to be categorized. I build motorcycles, I paint, I write, but my passion is photography. My photography expresses a diverse subject matter, a diversity that is as wide as my personal interests. My photographs often deal with the events in and surrounding my life. Moments of loneliness, aggression, laziness, obsession, lust. It varies, as do I. But Simplicity is my inspiration. A desire to cut out all the unnecessary and exist with just what is needed.
I’ve been taking photographs since I was a young kid. Currently I shoot in digital 35, 35mm, and medium format film, and develop black and whites in my bathroom. Prints are made locally on archival quality paper, and also mounted locally.
Most of my photographs have been taken in Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nebraska, Wyoming, and California, where I’ve lived through the past thirty years.
I’m a passionate photographer. I love photography and have been shooting since I was a kid, and imagine I always will. You can see more of my photographs on my flickr page at www.flickr.com/fredfinn
